I started web development in 2009, exploring an idea to create a library of shareable images with friends. MySpace was still relevant, and Facebook was just emerging. While our image-sharing concept didn't take off (we were focused on launching our careers post-college), Pinterest launched a year later—we missed that opportunity.
Within a few years, I began freelancing web development for friends. Most of my early work is too dated to showcase, but it represents years of side projects and freelance work that I've picked up every few years since 2008.
Recently, I've been working on firstalarm.com. While I prefer fully custom builds over WordPress, we chose WordPress to enable the First Alarm team to self-serve their own content updates. Sometimes the right tool is the one that empowers the client, even if it's not my personal preference.
